A candidate disobeys the examiner's order during the practical test: "We're going to take the exam you want."

To obtain a driver's license in Spain , you must pass two exams: first, a 30-question theoretical knowledge test , and then a practical test in a real-life traffic situation.

During the practical test, the candidate must follow the examiner's instructions at all times . That is, they must abide by the rules and perform the maneuvers requested. Although sometimes, due to nerves, it is possible to disobey the examiner , this happened to Abraham, a candidate at Edén Díez's driving school (@aprobadoalaprimera), who disobeyed the examiner's order, and the examiner became furious.

What offense is involved in disobeying the examiner's instructions?

In this case, failing to follow the examiner's orders and driving freely constitutes a minor offense according to the DGT's grading criteria . Therefore, the candidate will not fail the exam unless they commit nine other offenses of this type .

On the other hand, it should be noted that the video refers to a mock exam that Diez usually conducts with his students, so it is not a real situation, although it shows a circumstance that could occur during the practical test.

What other types of driving violations exist?

First, there are prohibited maneuvers or disqualifying offenses , which are behaviors that pose a risk to the driver and other road users. Some examples include merging onto a road and forcing others to brake abruptly, failing to obey a stop sign , or exceeding the speed limit by more than 30 km/h .

At a second level of severity are deficient infractions , such as exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 km/h, making a U-turn that hinders traffic, or not knowing how to use the windshield wipers correctly.

Finally, there are minor offenses , which are minor mistakes, such as not using the windshield wipers when necessary, using the horn without justification, or starting the driving test without wearing a seatbelt.

Maximum number of faults that can be committed to pass

To begin with, if you commit a qualifying foul, the practical exam will be immediately failed . However, if you commit a deficient foul, you may still pass, but if you commit a second such foul, your result will be negative .

Regarding minor infractions, if you accumulate 10 or more, you will fail the test . Additionally, if you commit one minor infraction along with five minor infractions , you will also fail the practical exam.
